The relative darkness or lightness of a color. White represents the highest value, black the lowest, and greys all possible values in between. Every hue has an inherent value (e. G. The primary blue is of lower value than the primary yellow), though they may be lightened or darkened by the addition of white, black or grey; if the latter, a pastel is the result.
