dvostruka artikulacija
Semiotički kod koji ima "dvostruku artikulaciju" (kao u slučaju govornog jezika) može da se analizira na dva apstraktna strukturna nivoa: na višem nivou koji se naziva "nivo prve artikulacije" i na nižem "Nivou druge artikulacije". Na nivoou prve artikulacije sistem se sastoji od najmanjih jedinica koje nose značenje (ne primer morfeme ili reči u jeziku).
